The pictures for the memory quilts are in the quilt gallery. This quilt is one of two memory quilts commissioned for two daughters by their mother. The quilt blocks include clothing from the beloved grandmother, Nanny and their own clothes from their childhood. Some of the block patterns are traditional quilting patterns while others are cut as T-shirt blocks. This daughter has adopted a daughter from Asia and the quilting was done in a “pagoda” pattern to celebrate her inclusion in the family. I used a clear monofilament on the front to not detract from the memories found in the fabric in the blocks. On the back, I used a red thread on the black backing and the stitching stands on its own. Both the mother and I can not wait for Christmas to place these quilts in their new homes.
