This quilt is incredible! The blocks are not machine embroidered. Look again. They are hand embroidered and are decades old. My client took the blocks and made them into a quilt top using very contemporary fabric. The quilt is a gift for her dear friend to give to her daughter as the redwork blocks were made by her grandmother.
To give the quilt added dimension we used two layers of batting. I outlined the embroidery work and then echoed to fill the block. There is custom quilting in the pieced blocks that has a traditional feeling. The quilting in the outer border has a more contemporary touch to mimic the blending of old and new from the quilt top.
