Life and Quilting

Standard

I have been thinking about the difference between a blogger who quilts and a quilter who blogs and I have decided that the difference is huge.   Know that when I am silent in cyber space, my machine is running.  A 20 year longarm veteran says, “if you machine isn’t running then your aren’t quilting”  So I must spend a lot more time quilting than blogging or using the internet.  That is what it is all about.  If I was blogging incessantly, than my growth as a longarm quilter would be stunted.

That being said, even quilters have to get away from the frame to experience life. Within the last month I have been on a camping trip to the Rio Grande Gorge near Taos, New Mexico.  The scenery was breath-taking.  I did a lot of hiking and photography with the intent of replicating the pictures into art and landscape quilts.  I visited the Taos Pueblo and realized that I have a passion for the southwest and I should incorporate that into my quilting.  I also visited the local wineries and breweries, a favorite pastime of mine.

Recently I have begun to declutter the junk room of the house.  I know what you are thinking, “does she mean the sewing room?” and the answer is no.  Actually my studio is fairly well-organized.  The room I am talking about is the school room where I homeschooled my three daughters all the way through high school.  With in the last year, the room has gotten out of control.  I know everyone has an area like that.   I call it my elephant of a mess.  I know it took a long time to create it and it will take a long time to clean it out, one bite at a time.  (just like how you would eat an elephant!)

But I would rather be quilting!!
