Can you believe that this is a map of the New York subway system.  If you can zoom in on the lighter fabric you can see it printed there.  I just love the piece work in the center with the rectangles and blue fabric and I am glad that my client didn’t cut up the map fabric into small pieces and loose the integrity of the subway system.  She made this quilt for her son and wife who have lived in New York.  What a great quilt to give as a gift!  We chose an edge to edge pattern that is angular and regular to compliment the background fabric and quilted it in a heavy red thread.  Most of the time, I am quilting with thin thread so this was particularly fun!   If I ever make it to New York, I am going to wish I had brought this quilt along.
