Deja Double! Again a set of sample quilts for class showcasing vastly different fabrics. What I take away from this set is that fabric choices affect how the quilting will show on the quilt. So way back when a piecer is shopping for the fabrics for a project, she should already be taking into consideration how she wants to quilt the project and factor that into the choice of fabrics. Once a finished quilt top comes to Ideal Stitches, I do talk to the client about what is going to show and what is going to blend in as there is no sense in having complex quilting that doesn’t show. This is a major reason that for my personal quilts, I have shied away from busy backs. Using a complimentary tone on tone means the quilting will be dramatic on the back even if it blends on the front.
