I will admit I was a little daunted when this quilt arrived. Pieced in all solids it comes across very plain. My client admitted she wasn’t thrilled with how the top turned out. I assured her that “Quilting makes the Quilt” Now to be sure that my stitching lives up to my promise. After ditch stitching everything, I used a bright variegated and Marti Gras type motif in all the blocks, used turquoise in the background to put in arcs to soften the lines and add circles to the diamonds. In the purple the arcs created new diamonds that I background filled with purple thread. Finally added a computerized boarder. The effect of the quilting on the blue backing is absolutely stunning. My client first words were “I hated this quilt before but now I love it” And that’s Harlequin for you!
