Look closer and you will see the counted cross stitch.  This piecer belongs to a cross stitch group and they exchanged cross stitched panels so that each member had one from each person in the group.  While many made a cross stitch wall hanging,  she made a quilt top with the cross stitch panel as a fussy cut center to many of the blocks.  Her challenge to me was to incorporate quilted stars.  I love the big feather border which is reflected in feather motifs in many of the blocks.  The cross stitch, the piecing and the quilting come together in a spectacular way!
