The burgundy is the perfect contrast to the soft colors in the batik fabric.   Using a lighter burgundy rose thread, I quilted an all over paisley pattern which really popped on the burgundy fabric and gave it great visual interest.  I split the backing and sewed the center seam so that the border stripes ran down the outside instead of down the middle and the effect is “seamless”.
