This quilt was made by the piecer for her dear friends son as a graduation present.  She took the top to show it to her friend as she was in hospice and then came to Ideal Stitches to be quilted,   I continued with the soccer theme and quilted a variety of coordinating soccer patterns in the border and the blocks.  The redwork was machine embroidery which I highlighted with outline quilting.   When the quilt was picked up, I found out that the friend has passed away and that the piecer had embroidered a label with a message from the mom to her son for the quilt.
