Paper Pieced Border

Standard

I am working on the paper pieced border for the block of the month class.  I am in the last bits of fabric that I bought for the class over a year ago.  I decided to play it safe and go and get about a quarter of a yard more of the fabrics I needed for the border.  Well, in the ever changing fabric industry, they bolts are sold out.   Theoretically on paper I have enough fabric so I have decided to move forward.  I have a cheat sheet with scraps of the fabric tucked in my purse to check other stores but I am not hopeful.  This is too common of an occurance not to be a conspiracy by those that manufacture the fabric lines.

If the students knew how much time it takes they may not put the border on the quilt.  So I am not going to tell them until they have made their third paper pieced border block.  It makes sense if you think about it, there are more paper pieced blocks in the border than there are paper pieced blocks in the quilt and I only had them do 4 six inch squares a month.  Despite the time committment, I think the border will be fabulous and I can’t wait to put the blocks together and see how it looks.
