Octagon Lone Star (close up)
When this quilt top arrived at Ideal Stitches, it was just the lone star with no back ground fabric around the edges that had been found in a cedar chest. The diamonds of the lone star had been hand pieced but sadly left unfinished. I matched the background to the off white diamonds and set in the corner squares and edge triangles. The all over pattern was chosen for beauty and its ability to hold down the fragile seams. At the customer’s request the corners were cut to make an octagon quilt. Cutting the quilted triangles off the corners was one of the hardest things to do but worth it as her vision of an octagon lone star quilt came to life.
