I was able to make an addition two quilts with the left over fabrics from my sister in laws clothing. The southwest reversible quilt was made as a surprise gift for my mother in law and the smaller red and blue quilt was a gift for Phala’s only grandchild on her second birthday. I had fun trying a new pattern and sewing with my serger. Although it is intended as a quilt as you go pattern, I much prefer the south west quilt that I loaded on the frame and added additional quilting. I started out with 8 boxes of clothing and had less than a two gallon zip lock back left after 6 quilts. On a personal note, it was an amazing experience to work on these quilts. I found that I spend a lot of stitching time thinking about years of memories with Phala and I hope the quilts will bring love, memories and joy to each of the family members that received one.
